- Thomas Edison State College Appoints JIU Alumna

Thomas Edison State College has appointed Jones International University alumna Terri Tallon-Hammill to the position of executive assistant to the president and secretary to the Board of Trustees. Terri graduated from JIU in 2002 with an MA in Business Communications.

Since graduating in August of 2009 with my Master of Arts in Business Communication from JIU, I have won a position as the Director of Forensics (Speech & Debate) at Tarrant County College's Trinity River Campus in Fort Worth, Texas. I am now coaching the colleges charter speech and debate program, as well as teaching classes in Business & Professional Communication, Fundamentals of Communication and Public Speaking. The degree has helped me begin a career at the collegiate level as an instructor and coach.

It is estimated that 240,000 federal employees will retire and need to be replaced between 2008 and 2012, while our government simultaneously will require additional help at agencies like the Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to handle benefit claims and provide services for the growing senior population.
